Dear Hot (Bikram) Yoga   Lovers,

 Volume 03 – 2013

 kopf

Our Thailand and Mexico Retreat have passed now which is a bit sad as we had such a great time, but read on for loads of good news…..Our   Bali Retreat with Bikram Yoga teacher Afton Carraway and Anna Hunter is just around the corner (18th-25th August) and there are a few spots left…. If you have not seen our Facebook announcement yet, Afton just placed 3rd in the International Yoga Asana Championships in L.A. – so apart from being a great teacher she has yet again demonstrated discipline and gracefulness on the competitive yoga stage! Congratulations Afton!  fr 236

Also we have many more Retreats to come, teachers to welcome and have added new and great locations. But first of all we would like to say THANK YOU to everyone who has joined our Retreats so far, to all the wonderful teachers and also to the staff and friendly Retreat hosts. We are delighted to have met many great people from all corners of the world, be it people who have either practiced Bikram Yoga for years or those who had their first class with us on the Retreat. We have had an amazing time so far and many friendships have been created which is wonderful to see. You can see pictures of our past Retreats and testimonials here

Then, in case you haven’t already heard, we are very grateful and excited to have Senior Bikram Yoga teacher Lucas Miles and Kate Jane Brown joining the Free Spirit Yoga Retreats teaching team

lucas-miles2Lucas has been teaching Bikram Yoga for over 10 years and has been asked by Bikram yoga’s founder Bikram Choudhury to lead seminars and posture clinics globally. Bikram asked him to do this work because he, in his own words, said he “can’t be everywhere at once, so you senior teachers have to go tell people how to do my yoga the right way”. Check out Lucas profile here.

Kate went to her first Bikram Yoga class in 2007 but it wasn’t until she started experiencing some hurdles in life that she really got the Bikram bug.  She was doing it to feel good not just physically but mostly mentally and emotionally: “Bikram yoga helped me deal with some very challenging times” In 2010 she decided she wanted to be a teacher. Since then, she has taught at about a dozen different studios in the USA, Australia and New Zealand

Both Lucas and Kate will be teaching at our Hot Bikram and Pilates Retreat in Koh Samui, Thailand from the 24th November – 1st December together with international Pilates teachers Sean Carey and Marta Molinera at the Award winning Vikasa Retreat. Enjoy a week full of Bikram Yoga, Posture Clinics led by Lucas Miles, daily Pilates classes and gourmet food at this stunning location

And yes… there is more to come…. In January 2014, Free Spirit Yoga Retreats will be going to Bocas del Toro, Panama on a Bikram Yoga & Surf Retreat. This stunning location made up of so many little islands that we have lost count  is located on the Caribbean side of Panama and easy to reach via San Jose, Costa Rica or Panama City (1 hour flight). We have first visited Bocas over 11 years ago backpacking through Central America and just fell in love with the place. Having returned many times since then we just knew we have to do a Retreat here at some point. Open to all levels of experience we can’t wait to combine a week of Bikram Yoga with Surfing in cooperation with Mono Loco Surf School, the only ISA/BSA qualified Surf School in Bocas de Toro. Details are to follow shortly, but as places are limited to 12 people ,contact us if you would like to reserve your spot now !

Also – next year March and May we will be back on Koh Samui, Thailand!

Firstly, for our Bikram Yoga & Kids Retreat 29th March – 5th April 2014 at the gorgeous Samahita Resort directly at the beach. Open to families, single parents, grandparents or just about anyone who would like to have a week of plenty of Yoga but not miss out on having their little ones around them. We have created a week packed with entertainment and activities for the little ones and enough time for you to enjoy yourself and practice Yoga. The Samahita has its own kids’ club and playground as well as qualified child-minding/baby-sitting staff so you can enjoy your yoga classes with peace of mind. And the best bit: the first child up to 12 years old comes for FREE! So hurry to secure your spot or tell someone you know who would love to benefit from our child- and family-friendly yoga retreat.

In May we will be back at the stunning Absolute Sanctuary where we’ve held a retreat last April. The fabulous Naomi Clark will join us again  – as she as much as we cannot wait to be back in this amazing detox & yoga centre. More details to come soon
